We inaugurated this annual event several years ago. The regulars at our Thursday lunch club, Light Bite, enjoy a choice of homemade puddings each week and a particular favourite is a fruit crumble. Here they can be seen topping and tailing the year’s supply of gooseberries whilst enjoying their after lunch chat. These will then be frozen to be used once a month or so to provide hot gooseberry crumbles throughout the winter.

The date of Topping and Tailing Day varies around the end of June or beginning of July but always falls on a Thursday!
